COMMENDING Sister Anna Mae Collins, CSJ upon the
occasion of her retirement after 30 years of
distinguished service as Principal of the Notre Dame
Schools

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have
been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Sister
Anna Mae Collins, CSJ upon the occasion of her retirement after 30 years
of distinguished service as Principal of the Notre Dame Schools to be
celebrated at a party held in her honor Thursday, June 15, 2017, in The
Monsignor Francis J. Willenburg Center at Notre Dame Junior and Senior
High School in Utica, New York; and

WHEREAS, Sister Anna Mae Collins has dedicated three decades of her
life to serving the students at Notre Dame Junior and Senior High School
in Utica, New York; for the last nine years, she held the esteemed title
of Principal; and

WHEREAS, In 1974, Sister Anna Mae Collins began her esteemed career
in education as a teacher at St. Mary's School in Clinton, New York;
from 1981-1986, she served as the Principal at St. John the Evangelist
School in New Hartford, New York; and

WHEREAS, For the next two years, Sister Anna Mae Collins held the
position of Principal at Notre Dame Junior High School, North; from
1988-2004, she served as Assistant Principal at Notre Dame Junior and
Senior High School before being appointed to the title of Principal, the
position from which she will officially retire on June 30, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure at Notre Dame, Sister Anna Mae
Collins has been instrumental in the development of an International
Program, and several other changes and transitions; and

WHEREAS, In the spring of 2017, Sister Anna Mae Collins proudly
watched her devoted work come to fruition with the opening of The
Monsignor Willenburg Center, a tremendous asset for Catholic education
in the Mohawk Valley; and

WHEREAS, Educators like Sister Anna Mae Collins provide a tremendous
service to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and

WHEREAS, Sister Anna Mae Collins has clearly had an enduring impact
on the youth of the Notre Dame Schools, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
her impressive dedication to others; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
Catholic education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sister Anna Mae Collins, CSJ upon the occasion of her retirement
as Principal of the Notre Dame Schools, after 30 years of dedicated
service in education, and for her significant contributions to education
in New York State, and to wish her continued success in all of her
future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sister Anna Mae Collins, CSJ.
