COMMEMORATING the 2017 Isese Festival NYC, the
annual celebration of traditional African culture
and spirituality in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday,
June 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
events which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 2017 Isese Festival NYC, the annual celebration of
traditional African culture and spirituality in Brooklyn, New York on
Sunday, June 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Isese is traditional spiritual practice and philosophy in
Yorubaland, Nigeria; in recognition of and respect for its African
ancestry, Isese Festival NYC will feature a procession through the
streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will have live music, ancestral
masquarades, performances, guest speakers and traditional African food;
and

WHEREAS, Isese Festival NYC is presented by Ogbe Sooto Ifa Temple of
Brooklyn, The Fadara Group and 256 Healing Arts, in association with
Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend cultural events which symbolize the historical, social and
cultural development of this great State and embody the spirit of the
principles upon which this Nation was founded; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 2017 Isese Festival NYC, the annual celebration of
traditional African culture and spirituality in Brooklyn, New York on
Sunday, June 4, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ogbe Sooto Ifa Temple of Brooklyn, The Fadara Group, 256
Healing Arts and Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation.
