CONGRATULATING the Alfred-Almond High School Boys'
Soccer Team upon the occasion of winning the 2016
New York State Class D Championship

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can only be
achieved through strenuous practice, team play, and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize
those young people within our community, who, by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
their school district and community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Alfred-Almond High School Boys' Soccer Team upon the
occasion of winning the 2016 New York State Class D Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Alfred-Almond High School Boys' Soccer Team
successfully won the State Championship by defeating Fort Ann in double
overtime at the Middletown High School on Sunday, November 13, 2016, to
capture the State title; and

WHEREAS, State championship seasons always consist of a special
group of people who are extremely dedicated to the goal of being the
very best through practice and a steadfast commitment to team-play; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the dedication and efforts of Head Coach Burt Turner, and
Assistant Coaches Greg Cook, Keith Holmok, Matt McAneney and Chuck
Comer; and

WHEREAS, The team's overall record, 20-1-2, is outstanding, and the
team members were loyally and enthusiastically supported by family,
fans, friends, and the entire community; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting
favorably on their school; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those high school athlete-scholars who have achieved notable
success in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Alfred-Almond High School Boys' Soccer
Team: Austin Swackhamer, Gavin Porter, Nevin Allen, Gabe Empson, Evan
Wood, Jake Johnston, Duncan Allen, Christian Powell, Jack Castle, Cory
Olix, Brody Noone, Attilo Cushing, Harry Robshaw, Aidan Looney, Ethan
Hann, Matt Ingalls, Brady Holmok, Jacob Lawrow, Duncan Bryant-Carty, Sam
Warren, Dylan Griffin, Dan McMahon, Dustin Kinnaird, and Head Coach Burt
Turner, Assistant Coaches Greg Cook, Keith Holmok, Matt McAneney, Chuck

Comer and Scorekeeper Lukas Gray on their tremendous season and playoff
performance; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to each team member; Head Coach Burt Turner, Assistant
Coaches Greg Cook, Keith Holmok, Matt McAneney, Chuck Comer and
Scorekeeper Lukas Gray.
