HONORING Ellen Jabbur upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the Albany
Institute of History and Art on June 10, 2017

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Jabbur has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ellen Jabbur
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by the
Albany Institute of History and Art, to be celebrated at its Annual
Grand Garden Gala on Saturday, June 10, 2017, in Loudonville, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Ellen Jabbur has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; she is receiving this auspicious honor in
recognition of her many years of service and philanthropy to the Albany
Institute of History and Art; and

WHEREAS, A well-known and tireless community volunteer, Ellen Jabbur
joined the Albany Institute Board of Trustees in 1994; she served as
President of the Women's Council of the Albany Institute and chaired the
Festival of Trees, as well as the 1996 Museum Ball; and

WHEREAS, In 2003, the Albany Institute of History and Art celebrated
the opening of the Jabbur Gallery donated by Ellen and her husband, the
late Dr. Munir T. Jabbur; and

WHEREAS, When not volunteering, Ellen Jabbur enjoys opera, music,
and visiting museums and art galleries around the world; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ellen Jabbur has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Ellen Jabbur has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Ellen Jabbur, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellen Jabbur upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Albany Institute of History and Art on June 10, 2017;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ellen Jabbur.
