COMMENDING Eileen Bonesteel upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the
United Tenants of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Eileen Bonesteel upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the United Tenants of Albany, to be celebrated at
its 44th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Westminster
Presbyterian Church in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Eileen Bonesteel started her illustrious career working
with at-risk youth as a member of the direct care staff in a secure
facility, before opening the first Division for Youth, currently known
as Office of Children and Family Services; and

WHEREAS, After seven years as the lead trainer for Office of
Children and Family Services' Training Academy, Eileen Bonesteel was
hired by the New York State Commission of Correction as its Training
Director; and

WHEREAS, Upon her retirement in 2010, Eileen Bonesteel held the
position of Pro Bono Coordinator for the Albany County Bar Association;
in this capacity, she served as an advocate for the poor and the
homeless; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Eileen Bonesteel was a Lead Facilitator for
the New York City Simone Wiesenthal Tolerance Center, holding
experimental classes for the New York Police Department and New York
City Department of Corrections; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Eileen Bonesteel is the co-Founder of The
Center for Community Insight, a non-profit which holds a course called
Poverty Simulator, which is designed to give people the experience of
poverty to help them become more compassionate; and

WHEREAS, During her esteemed career, Eileen Bonesteel has assisted
low-income tenants facing evictions with her unyielding commitment to
seeing these cases through to the end; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Eileen Bonesteel upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the United Tenants of Albany; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eileen Bonesteel.
