HONORING Sharon Casey Duker upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by The
College of Saint Rose on June 15, 2017
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sharon Casey Duker upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by The College of Saint Rose, to be celebrated at its "A
Community of Excellence" Luncheon on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at
Wolferts Roost Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Casey Duker has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Westerlo, New York, Sharon Casey Duker serves
as President/Co-Owner of Westco, Inc., a privately held investment firm;
and
WHEREAS, Prior to serving in this most esteemed capacity, Sharon
Casey Duker was employed by KPMG Peat Marwick in Albany, Deloitte,
Haskins & Sells in New York, and Norstar Bank in Albany; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Casey Duker holds a Master of Education in
Business/Marketing Education from The College of Saint Rose, as well as
a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Siena
College and CPA Certification; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Casey Duker and her husband Bill have been staunch
supporters of Albany Medical Center, and were instrumental in the 2014
naming of the children's hospital to the Bernard & Millie Duker
Children's Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sharon Casey Duker has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Sharon Casey Duker, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sharon Casey Duker upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by The College of Saint Rose on June 15, 2017; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sharon Casey Duker.
