CONGRATULATING Roger F. Fay upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Roger
F. Fay upon the occasion of his 100th Birthday on Thursday, July 20,
2017; and

WHEREAS, For Roger F. Fay's unremitting commitment to his community,
The Village of Williston Park will be hosting a birthday celebration in
his honor at its Annual Village Appreciation Night on Tuesday, August
15, 2017; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional centenarian, with his zest for life, has
inspired and enhanced the lives of his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Roger F. Fay joined the Williston Park Fire Department in
1955; during his tenure, he held the role of Company Treasurer for over
30 years, and was named Honorary Chief in recognition of his 50 years of
dedicated service to the Department; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to the well-being of his community, Roger F. Fay
held the position of both Village Trustee and Mayor of the Village of
Williston Park from 1960-1968; in this capacity, he was responsible for
spearheading the initiative to expand Village Hall, construct the
Village Pool, and erect the current Firehouse; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Roger F. Fay held the esteemed positions of
both Executive Director of the Nassau County Village Officials
Association and Executive Director Emeritus; he also serves as Village
Historian and is a member of the Historical Committee; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man has experienced the incredible joys
and sorrows characteristic of and reserved for those with the stamina
and courage to savor a full life; and

WHEREAS, This beloved man has enriched the lives of those around him
through his joyous and sincere love for others and through the quiescent
charm and wisdom which comes only from a fullness of years; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those who have reached such a remarkable age and who have
witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural developments and
awesome achievements of this country during the last century, while
themselves contributing to the growth and excellence of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Roger F. Fay upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roger F. Fay.
