HONORING Charles Stoddart upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Friend of
Education Award by the Chautauqua County School
Board Association

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of education in the
great State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles Stoddart upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2017 Friend of Education Award by the Chautauqua County School Board
Association, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting at the Williams
Center in Fredonia, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Friend of Education Award is presented annually to
recognize an individual or organization that has contributed
professionally or in a volunteer capacity to improve educational
opportunities for students; and

WHEREAS, Starting his career as a teacher at the former Lincoln
Elementary School in 1962, Charles Stoddart became Principal of South
Davis Elementary in 1976 before rising to the esteemed position of
Superintendent of Schools in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Charles Stoddart is an Associate Professor of
School Building Leadership in the College of Education at Fredonia State
College; he is also a co-coordinator of school building and school
district leadership programs in the department of language, learning and
leadership; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his more than 60 years of dedicated
service to his community, Charles Stoddart has been named both the
Citizen of the Year and Supervisor of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Charles Stoddart has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of Western New York, as well as on the community-at-large, and
accordingly merits recognition and applause for his impressive
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles Stoddart upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 Friend of Education Award by the Chautauqua County School
Board Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Charles Stoddart.
