CONGRATULATING student-athlete Carlos Forde upon
the occasion of earning an All-American Certificate
on May 24, 2017

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, A standout lacrosse player for the Minisink Valley
Warriors, Carlos Forde was presented an All-American Certificate after
the team's dominating win of the 2017 Section IX Class B Section
Championship on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Faller Field Complex in
Middletown High School; and

WHEREAS, In addition to receiving this prestigious honor, Carlos
Forde was recognized for scoring his 200th goal during the game; he
finished the season with remarkable career goals; and

WHEREAS, As a young child, Carlos Forde could often be found hanging
around the practice field in Otisville, New York, playing catch and
shooting with the varsity players every chance he could get; today, as a
senior, he has had an exceptional lacrosse career at Minisink Valley
High School; and

WHEREAS, In 2016, Carlos Forde was the only player in section nine
to be voted all-section nine in two categories, attackmen and face off;
his season winning percentage of 77%, and his career winning percentage
of 72% are Minisink Valley High School records; and

WHEREAS, During the 2017 season, Captain Carlos Forde led his team
throughout their journey as they ended their season with an impressive
15-4 overall record; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, this extraordinary athlete and student
will attend Division I Monmouth University on an athletic scholarship;
and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by Carlos Forde is due in
great part to the efforts of Head Coach Chad Lakeman, a skilled and
inspirational tutor, respected for his ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Carlos Forde's overall record is outstanding; he was
loyally and enthusiastically supported by his family, fans, friends and
the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Carlos Forde has proven
himself to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably
on his school; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Chad Lakeman has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring Carlos Forde towards his goals; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Head Coach Chad Lakeman and Carlos Forde have
clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a
tradition of their school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Carlos Forde upon the occasion of earning
an All-American Certificate on May 24, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carlos Forde and Head Coach Chad Lakeman.
