CONGRATULATING student-athlete Emily Henrich upon
the occasion of being named the 2017 Prep Talk
Player of the Year for Girls Rugby by The Buffalo
News
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical
development of the young people of this State, preparing them for the
future by instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a
standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and
developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize our
young individuals, who strive for athletic and academic excellence
through rigorous training and mental and physical discipline; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate student-athlete Emily Henrich upon the occasion of being
named the 2017 Prep Talk Player of the Year for Girls Rugby by The
Buffalo News to be celebrated at its Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, June
14, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel and Conference Center in
Buffalo, New York; and
WHEREAS, An integral part of the Orchard Park High School Girls
Rugby Team, junior Emily Henrich has displayed tremendous hard work,
outstanding athletic skill, and exemplary sportsmanship to receive this
prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Emily Henrich learned to love rugby at a young age by her
parents who were former rugby players; and
WHEREAS, For the past five years, Emily Henrich has been the high
scorer on the Orchard Park High School Girls Rugby Team; and
WHEREAS, Through her athletic prowess, speed and agility, Emily
Henrich was instrumental in her team capturing the last three New York
State Championships; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her stellar career, Emily Henrich is most proud
of her role as the Captain of the high school All-American team which
played against Quebec last summer; as the top scorer, she was named the
MVP of the game; and
WHEREAS, When she is not at school or playing rugby, Emily Henrich
enjoys playing soccer or basketball, and working out; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Emily Henrich has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate student-athlete Emily Henrich upon the occasion of being
named the 2017 Prep Talk Player of the Year for Girls Rugby by The
Buffalo News, and to wish her continued success in all her future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emily Henrich.
