MEMORIALIZING Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim
October 28, 2017, as Make a Difference Day in the
State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
official days that are set aside to increase awareness of initiatives
which affect the lives of citizens of New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim October 28, 2017, as
Make a Difference Day in the State of New York, in conjunction with the
observance of National Make a Difference Day; and

WHEREAS, National Make a Difference Day is an annual community
service event which is held on the fourth Saturday in October; millions
of people have united in the common mission to improve the lives of
others; and

WHEREAS, USA Weekend is a national weekend newspaper magazine which
is distributed through more than 800 newspapers in the United States and
published by Gannett Company, a sister publication to USA Today; and

WHEREAS, This weekend magazine's focus is on social issues,
entertainment, health, food and travel; USA Weekend, along with Points
of Light, have been sponsoring National Make a Difference Day, the
largest national day of community service, for more than twenty years;
and

WHEREAS, It is imperative to promote days in which individuals and
organizations unselfishly devote their energy, resources and thoughtful
care on behalf of improving the quality and character of life in their
communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim October 28, 2017, as
Make a Difference Day in the State of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of
New York.
