COMMENDING Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi upon the
occasion of his retirement after 35 years of
distinguished service to the Munson-Williams-Proctor
Arts Institute on August 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed
residents of this noble Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi upon the occasion of his retirement
after 35 years of distinguished service to the Munson-Williams-Proctor
Arts Institute, to be celebrated on Friday, August 4, 2017; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Utica College of Syracuse University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Anthony J.
Spiridigloizzi started working for local companies including Mohawk Data
Sciences and the United Way of Greater Utica; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi was appointed Treasurer of
Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in April of 1982; eight years
later, he was named Director of Finance before accepting the position of
Vice President of Operations and Director of Finance in 1992, as well as
Vice President and Treasurer in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi rose to the esteemed position of
President in December of 2011; he was instrumental in fundraising,
working to secure many of Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute's large
gifts; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi focused on the
visitor experience, working to create a more friendly and welcoming
environment and added popular programs including First Fridays Happy
Hours and Art Alive Family Days; and

WHEREAS, In his capacity as President of Munson-Williams-Proctor
Arts Institute, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi served with loyalty, honor and
distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed
a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts; and

WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the
Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, earning the admiration, esteem
and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi
served on the Board of Directors for numerous charitable organizations
including the Slocum-Dickson Foundation, the Utica Public Library and
Upstate Caring Partners; in addition, he is the current President of the
Board of Directors for Mohawk Valley Handicap Services; and

WHEREAS, To honor his many years of service and leadership, and in
recognition of his impact on his community, Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts
Institute has established the Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi Scholarship Fund
to benefit students from the Utica area attending the PrattMWP College
of Art and Design; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi upon the occasion of his retirement
after 35 years of distinguished service to the Munson-Williams-Proctor
Arts Institute on August 4, 2017; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Anthony J. Spiridigloizzi.
