HONORING Jade Gibson upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the WERCing Woman of
Achievement Award by the Capital District Women's
Employment & Resource Center on October 3, 2017
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the communities across
New York State is reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of
those individuals who would devote themselves to the advancement of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jade Gibson
upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the WERCing Woman
of Achievement Award by the Capital District Women's Employment &
Resource Center, to be celebrated at its 13th Annual Awards Luncheon on
Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Women's Employment & Resource Center (WERC) is a
not-for-profit organization which assists women in improving significant
self-attributes in order to successfully rejoin the workforce; each
year, this vital organization provides services to at least 300 women in
the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, Jade Gibson is being honored with this auspicious award to
recognize an amazing woman whose career path has been filled with unique
transitions, unexpected challenges, opportunities to take risks, and who
serves as an excellent role model for women served by WERC; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of The Orlo School of Cosmetology and Hair
Design, Jade Gibson is the Founder and Owner of Jade's Hair Envy in
Colonie, New York, where she employs 23 stylists; and
WHEREAS, Jade Gibson is a successful entrepreneur with more than 25
years of experience in the hair care field; she has built an enterprise
that makes women beautiful on the outside while building their
confidence and self-esteem on the inside; and
WHEREAS, Each year, Jade Gibson provides support and guidance to
student interns from Albany High School, the Capital District
Educational Opportunity Center, and Bryant & Stratton College; she also
teaches haircutting classes and product demos for a hair care product
line; and
WHEREAS, In addition, she has spoken on numerous business panels,
from Hudson Valley Community College to Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, and has hosted community hair seminars, women's empowerment
events and school-related activities; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Jade Gibson leads a team in the Making Strides for Breast
Cancer Walk; she also participates in Community Cuts which provides
inner-city girls with free hairstyles for back-to-school; and
WHEREAS, Jade Gibson has been the proud recipient of numerous awards
and accolades including recognition from the Black Women's Association
of Albany and the Capital District YWCA; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jade Gibson has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Jade Gibson, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jade Gibson upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the WERCing Woman of Achievement Award by the Capital District Women's
Employment & Resource Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jade Gibson.
