MOURNING the death of Francis B. O'Neil, retired
United States Postal Worker, distinguished citizen
and devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Francis B. O'Neil of Amherst, New York died on October 20,
2016; and
WHEREAS, Francis B. O'Neil distinguished himself in his profession
and by his sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, Francis B. O'Neil proudly served his country as a member of
the United States Navy; after his discharge, he worked for the United
States Postal Service, and participated in the SEIU Local 200; and
WHEREAS, A bicycle enthusiast, Francis B. O'Neil belonged to the
Eldridge Bicycle Club; and
WHEREAS, Francis B. O'Neil's commitment to excellence, and his
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his parents, Joseph O'Neil, and Margaret
(William) McCrobie; one brother, John O'Neil; and a sister-in-law, Joan
(Richard) Hemingway; Francis B. O'Neil is survived by his wife, Eileen
O'Neil; three children, Shannon and Sean (Jennifer) O'Neil, and Eileen
(Edward) Holyoke; four grandchildren, Jack, Will, Colton and Bryan; one
great-granddaughter, Addison; one goddaughter, Patrice Gallagher; and
one sister, Noreen LePage; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Francis B. O'Neil leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Francis B. O'Neil, retired United States Postal
Worker, distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Francis B. O'Neil.
