MOURNING the death of Joey Scinta, talented
entertainer and musician, distinguished citizen and
native son of Buffalo, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor and pay
just tribute to those musical geniuses whose commitment and creative
talents contributed to the entertainment and cultural enrichment of
their community and the entire State of New York; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved this day to memorialize the
purposeful life and career of Joey Scinta, a prominent figure in the
history of the Buffalo music scene, and popular Las Vegas performer, who
died on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the age of 69; and

WHEREAS, Joey Scinta grew up on the West Side of Buffalo; a
remarkable musician with an incredible sense of humor, he was a member
of several local bands including The Mojos, Parkside Revival and Top
Banana; and

WHEREAS, Joey Scinta's career took off when he and his brother,
Frankie Scinta, and later his sister Chrissi Scinta, began performing at
Maguire's Arches, a well-known Buffalo bar; and

WHEREAS, Joey Scinta and his brother and sister then took their
well-received act on the road, touring the Midwest before moving to Las
Vegas, Nevada, where the group has entertained visitors from all over
the world for the past 16 years; and

WHEREAS, Their show, "The Scintas" has been a major hit at the Plaza
Hotel and Casino, and is billed as an evening of great music,
sidesplitting comedy and celebrity impersonations; the siblings
hilariously and emotionally share their experiences of growing up in
Buffalo, and its impact on their lives; and

WHEREAS, Joey Scinta was known not only for his wonderful musical
abilities, but also for his impressions of famous performers such as
Jerry Lewis, Neil Diamond, and Mick Jagger; and

WHEREAS, A proud Buffalonian, Joey Scinta and his siblings regularly
returned to their hometown to perform for their loving family and many
devoted fans; and

WHEREAS, Joey Scinta is survived by his loving wife, Mary Scinta;
two daughters, Lisa and Nicole Scinta; three sons, Joey, Mike and Nick
Scinta; his mother, Mary Scinta; and his sister, Chrissi Scinta; as well
as two brothers, Tony and Frankie Scinta; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to remember the
life and accomplishments of legendary musician, Joey Scinta, whose
illustrious career will forever live in the hearts of many and continue
to inspire generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Joey Scinta, and to express its deepest condolences
to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Joey Scinta.
