HONORING The Family Engagement Center at
Springbrook upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce
2017 Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Breakthrough
Business of the Year Award
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing the economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
The Family Engagement Center at Springbrook upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce 2017
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Breakthrough Business of the Year Award,
to be celebrated with a banquet on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at The
Otesaga Resort Hotel, Cooperstown, New York; and
WHEREAS, Now in its 31st year, the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce
has served the businesses and communities of Otsego County with programs
and services designed to foster strong economic growth and make the
county a great place to live and work; it is proud to be a vibrant and
active organization which strives to evolve and adapt to the changing
needs of the business community; and
WHEREAS, The Otsego County Chamber of Commerce annually presents its
Breakthrough Business of the Year Award to a business in Otsego County
which demonstrates innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit; and
WHEREAS, The Family Engagement Center at Springbrook is a
not-for-profit, state-licensed organization serving more than 1,000
people with developmental disabilities from across New York State and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, This extraordinary business is being recognized for
partnering with local businesses on a transformational project which
provides current Springbrook families with a unique place to nurture
their familial relationships; and
WHEREAS, Families of nearly 80 residential students making long
trips to visit loved ones can now arrive at The Family Engagement Center
at Springbrook and have a place to recreate home by engaging in such
activities as baking cookies, watching a movie or simply spending quiet
time together; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Family Engagement Center at Springbrook upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce
2017 Excellus BlueCross BlueShield Breakthrough Business of the Year
Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Family Engagement Center at Springbrook.
