HONORING Darrell Supak upon the occasion of his
retirement after many years of distinguished service
to Granite Associates, LP
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Darrell Supak upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of
distinguished service to Granite Associates, LP, to be celebrated on
Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts; and
WHEREAS, Since 1996, Darrell Supak has steadfastly served as Senior
Vice President and Chief of Staff for Granite Associates, LP, the
esteemed position from which he will retire; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his illustrious career with Granite Associates,
Darrell Supak served as Vice President and Assistant Chairman at
Cablevision Industries Corporation; and
WHEREAS, A retired United States Army Colonel, Darrell Supak
received his undergraduate degree and commission in the Army via the
ROTC program as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Texas A&M
University; he went on to earn a Master's degree in Business
Administration from Sul Ross University; and
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Darrell Supak has rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to Granite Associates,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Amongst his countless accomplishments, Darrell Supak was
instrumental in the planning, development and construction of Bethel
Woods Center for the Arts, a not-for-profit job creation and economic
development initiative in Sullivan County, New York; and
WHEREAS, With an unwavering dedication to health care issues in
Sullivan and Orange Counties, Darrell Supak helped prevent the closing
of Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC); he was also actively
involved in the renovation of the CRMC main hospital and ER Department;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Darrell Supak assisted in the construction of
both the new Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC) hospital and medical
office building, as well as the Urgent Care Center at Montreign; and
WHEREAS, Darrell Supak also spearheaded a project with Boston
University Medical Center in hopes of finding a cure for Amyloidosis, a
rare disease that occurs when amyloid builds up in the heart, kidneys,
liver, or other organs; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, Darrell
Supak serves on the board of directors of the National Purple Heart Hall
of Honor, and as Chairman of the Board of the Greater Hudson Valley
Health Care System; he is also Chairman of the Archdiocesan Pastoral
Council for the Archdiocese of New York; and
WHEREAS, Tirelessly committed to Veteran's affairs, Darrell Supak
served on the Veteran's Advisory Board for the 18th Congressional
District as Chair of the Legislative Committee, as well as for 14 years
on the United States Service Academy Selection Panel for the 19th
Congressional District; and
WHEREAS, Darrell Supak has been the proud recipient of numerous
civil and military awards and decorations including the prestigious
Walter A. Rhulen Award for Business, Community and Humanity from the
Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Susan and their
three children, who have all shown him love and support and rejoice in
his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Darrell Supak over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Darrell Supak upon the occasion of his retirement after many years
of distinguished service to Granite Associates, LP; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Darrell Supak.
