HONORING Chief Frank Petrone upon the occasion of
his retirement after 37 years of distinguished
service to the Shawangunk Police Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, The quality of life in these communities is largely
reflective of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by members of
the agencies which serve to protect, preserve and maintain public order;
and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chief Frank
Petrone upon the occasion of his retirement after 37 years of
distinguished service to the Shawangunk Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York, there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; Chief Frank
Petrone is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, After nearly four decades with the Shawangunk Police
Department, Chief Frank Petrone will officially retire on Sunday,
December 31, 2017, ending an era in the town's law enforcement agency;
and

WHEREAS, Frank Petrone began his illustrious career with the
department in 1980, serving in the esteemed capacity of Chief since
1991; and

WHEREAS, For the past 37 years, Chief Frank Petrone rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Shawangunk Police
Department, earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife who has shown him
love and support and rejoices in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Frank Petrone upon the occasion of his retirement after 37
years of distinguished service to the Shawangunk Police Department; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chief Frank Petrone.
