COMMENDING Patrick J. Piescor upon the occasion of
his selection as a member of the 2016 National
Association for Music Education All-National Chorus

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish themselves
through excellence in musical competition; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Patrick J. Piescor upon the occasion of his selection as a
member of the 2016 National Association for Music Education All-National
Chorus; and

WHEREAS, After submitting a recording of him singing the tenor part
to "Hallelujah," Patrick J. Piescor was one of 350 students selected
from 49 states to be a part of this exceptional chorus; and

WHEREAS, From November 10-13, 2016, hundreds of exceptional young
vocalists gathered in Grapevine, Texas, for the National Association for
Music Education Conference to showcase their expert musicianship and
perform a gala concert celebrating music education and the arts; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the four-day conference, Patrick J. Piescor
truly enjoyed the camaraderie he found amongst his fellow musicians; the
students rehearsed for numerous hours, participated in various workshops
and attended different concerts each night; and

WHEREAS, As Patrick J. Piescor reflects on his extraordinary
experience in Texas, he fondly recalls two moments which will likely
stay with him the rest of his life; one conductor taught him a lesson
about learning from your mistakes and another mentor suggested he sing
to a friend you really care about; and

WHEREAS, This talented young man will likely take this advice to his
next musical adventure; he has been chosen as a member of the upcoming
National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Mixed Chorus; this
prestigious conference will be held April 5-8, 2017, in Atlantic City,
New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Piescor discovered that he liked singing when he
joined the fifth grade chorus; ever since then he has honed his talents
and skills and plans on studying some form of music after he graduates
from high school in June of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Music competition provides an opportunity for students to
exhibit their practical skills to an audience, thereby giving them a
sense of pride in their hard work and efforts; and

WHEREAS, Patrick J. Piescor exemplifies the best of the potential
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; he has brought
enduring honor to his family and community through his many
achievements; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Patrick J. Piescor upon the occasion of his selection as a
member of the 2016 National Association for Music Education All-National
Chorus; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Patrick J. Piescor.
