CONGRATULATING Jodie L. Yankanin upon the occasion
of her retirement after 25 years of distinguished
service to Orange-Ulster BOCES
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have
been instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Jodie L. Yankanin upon the occasion of her retirement after
25 years of distinguished service to Orange-Ulster BOCES; she will
officially retire in January of 2017; and
WHEREAS, Orange-Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE)
programs give students the opportunity to graduate from high school with
technical experience, professional skills, national industry
certifications and college credit in a wide variety of high-demand
occupations; and
WHEREAS, Through a hands-on academic component in each classroom,
CTE students are able to integrate academics into their CTE curriculum
to meet their high school graduation requirements; many of the career
academies are nationally accredited and feature leading-edge technology,
as well as instructors with the latest trade experience; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Jodie L. Yankanin has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Orange-Ulster BOCES; throughout
her distinguished career, she has had a profound impact on the education
of thousands of students; and
WHEREAS, Jodie L. Yankanin earned her Master of Science degree from
the State University of New York at New Paltz; and
WHEREAS, A registered nurse, Jodie L. Yankanin was employed at
several hospitals in the region before beginning her illustrious career
as a CTE Health Careers Academy Clinical Instructor with Orange-Ulster
BOCES in 1992; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure at Orange-Ulster BOCES, Jodie Yankanin
served as a Special Education Principal, and Supervisor of shared staff,
extracurricular student activities and enrichment programs for the
component school districts; and
WHEREAS, In 2004, Jodie L. Yankanin was promoted to the title of
Director of Career and Technical Education Programs, as well as the
Adult Practical Nurse Program; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Jodie L. Yankanin was instrumental in
implementing numerous successful initiatives and ground-breaking
programs which have flourished under her leadership; she is
well-respected by her colleagues for her vision, intelligence and
integrity which have been the hallmark of her notable tenure as an
educator; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed woman has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, When Jodie L. Yankanin is not working, she enjoys
volunteering for various community organizations throughout Orange and
Ulster counties; and
WHEREAS, As a driving force for career and technical education
throughout the Hudson Valley and across the State of New York; Jodie L.
Yankanin has proudly served as a dynamic, compelling and respected role
model for others by virtue of both her professional and personal
commitment to making the world a better place to live; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jodie Yankanin upon the occasion of her retirement after 25
years of distinguished service to Orange-Ulster BOCES; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jodie L. Yankanin.
