HONORING Sister Regina Murphy upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2017
Distinguished Educator Award by Mount St. Mary
Academy

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sister Regina Murphy upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2017 Distinguished Educator Award by Mount St. Mary Academy at
its 90th Anniversary Celebration; and

WHEREAS, Sister Regina Murphy spent her illustrious career in
education teaching at Mount St. Mary Academy from 1967 to 1969, and
again from 1979 to 1988; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed woman gives tirelessly of her time and
energies as director of the Department of Research and Planning for the
Buffalo Diocese; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sister Regina Murphy has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Widely respected and greatly admired for her unremitting
dedication and prolific contributions, Sister Regina Murphy has been
cited on a number of occasions for her distinguished community service;
and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sister Regina Murphy has
displayed throughout her career; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Sister Regina Murphy, that future generations may know and appreciate
her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sister Regina Murphy upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Educator Award by Mount St. Mary
Academy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sister Regina Murphy.
