CONGRATULATING Mamie Heath upon the occasion of
her retirement after 55 years of distinguished
service to the Thousand Island Park Library

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Mamie Heath upon the occasion of her retirement after 55
years of distinguished service to the Thousand Island Park Library; and

WHEREAS, The Thousand Island Park Library was chartered in 1904; and

WHEREAS, Mamie Heath, a life-long resident of the Thousand Islands,
began working for the Thousand Island Park Library in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Since then, she has assisted with many library improvements
including the creation of a basement community room, and the
redecoration of the main floor with antique carpets, lights and old
pictures from the library's collection; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure as librarian, the Thousand Island Park
Library has received nine North Country Library System Improvement
Awards as well as the 1993 Continuing Excellence Award; and

WHEREAS, Many of the children who attended Mamie Heath's library
story hour returned to bring their own children to the story hour in
succeeding years; and

WHEREAS, Mamie Heath is leaving a legacy of love for the library and
its patrons, and has dedicated her life to helping others; and

WHEREAS, Mamie Heath has clearly had an enduring impact on her
fellow workers, as well as on the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedication to others;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support their communities by
providing their skills and talents to helping others; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mamie Heath upon the occasion of her retirement after 55 years of
distinguished service to the Thousand Island Park Library, and to wish
her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mamie Heath.
