CONGRATULATING Kathleen M. Amyot upon the occasion
of her retirement after 17 years of distinguished
service as circuit rider for the River Area Council
of Governments
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Kathleen M. Amyot upon the occasion of her retirement on
November 30, 2017, after 17 years of distinguished service as circuit
rider for the River Area Council of Governments; and
WHEREAS, The River Area Council of Governments (RACOG) was
established in 2000 as a forum for dialogue and action on the shared
interests of elected officials and appointed representatives in the
villages of Carthage, West Carthage and Deferiet and the towns of
Champion and Wilna; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen M. Amyot, a resident of LaFargeville, began
working as RACOG's circuit rider from its inception in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Under her stewardship as circuit rider for RACOG, it has
been a successful liaison between the Tug Hill Commission and state,
federal, and county organizations as well as with agencies providing
technical services and support to local municipalities; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure her many accomplishments have included
integral work in coordinating cooperative efforts to achieve grant
implementations to build parks, renovate buildings and fund projects;
and
WHEREAS, Under her leadership, RACOG saw the completion of the
Buckley Building restoration in Carthage, the completion of
contamination clean-up at the former Crown Cleaners site in the Hamlet
of Herrings, and the receipt of one of the first downtown grants for
facade improvement; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen M. Amyot, who dedicated her life to improving her
community, is leaving a legacy of hard work and tireless public
advocacy; and
WHEREAS, Kathleen M. Amyot has clearly had an enduring impact on her
fellow workers, as well as on the community-at-large, and accordingly
merits recognition and applause for her impressive improvement to her
community and dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support their communities by
providing their skills and talents to helping others; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Kathleen M. Amyot upon the occasion of her retirement after
17 years of distinguished service as circuit rider for the River Area
Council of Governments, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kathleen M. Amyot.
