HONORING Bonita A. and Richard L. Wright upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of the
2017 Citizens of the Year Award by the Greater
Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce on November 3, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bonita and Richard Wright upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the 2017 Citizens of the Year Award by the Greater
Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, celebrated at a dinner in their honor on
Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Gran-View on the River; and

WHEREAS, Bonita Wright, affectionately known to family and friends
as Bonnie, president and CEO, and Richard "Dick" Wright, vice-president
of operations, along with other members of their family, operate
Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Inc., which is celebrating its 75th year
in business; and

WHEREAS, Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Inc., was instituted by
Bonnie's father, Richard E. Winter in 1943, and continues to follow its
founding philosophy of treating everyone like a customer; and

WHEREAS, The Wrights were recognized for their many contributions to
local organizations throughout the St. Lawrence County area and truly
believe that people take care of their own in the North Country; and

WHEREAS, They have supported, and continue to support such worthy
causes as the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center, the Ogdensburg Boys and
Girls Club, and a host of other organizations, not only in Ogdensburg
but throughout St. Lawrence County; and

WHEREAS, Bonnie and Dick Wright, through Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg
Bottlers, Inc., made it possible for all Ogdensburg residents to use the
Ogdensburg Municipal Pool free of charge during 2017; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed couple is energetic and positive about their
community, always willing to lend a hand to help with any community
need; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and

WHEREAS, In keeping with this objective, this Legislative Body
inscribes upon its records, this tribute to Bonnie and Dick Wright, that
future generations may know and appreciate their admirable character,
their many benevolent deeds, and the respect and esteem in which they
are held; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bonita A. and Richard L. Wright upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of the 2017 Citizen of the Year Award by the
Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce on November 3, 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Bonita A. and Richard L. Wright.
