CONGRATULATING the Portville High School Girls
Volleyball Team upon the occasion of winning the
2017 Class C New York State Championship
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can only be
achieved through strenuous practice, team play, and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize
those young people within our community, who, by achieving outstanding
success in athletic competitions, have inspired and brought pride to
their school district and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the Portville High School Girls Volleyball Team upon the
occasion of winning the 2017 Class C New York State Championship; and
WHEREAS, The Portville High School Girls Volleyball Team
successfully won the Class C State Championship and this marks an
impressive three state championships in four years; the Portville
Panthers sets were 25-9,15-25,25-13, 25-13, with a win over Millbrook in
the finals at Cool Insuring Arena; and
WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by this team is due in great
part to the dedication and efforts of Head Coach Kelly Unverdorben, who
has four state titles in seven years; with this state championship in
the record books, the Portville Panthers has cemented their legacy as
what many would consider a dynasty; only six other schools own more
state titles in girls volleyball; and
WHEREAS, The team members were loyally and enthusiastically
supported by family, fans, friends, and the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, the team members have proven
themselves to be an unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting
favorably on their school; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those high school athlete-scholars who have achieved notable
success in this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Portville High School Girls' Volleyball Team; its
members: Laura Wilhelm, Brooke DeYoe, Mady Domster, Beth Miller, Kylie
Blessing, Kyla Heary, Ericka Carlson, Hailey Keim, Haley Unverdorben,
Sierra Keim, Taylor Beck, Brooke Decker, Olivia Emley, Reggie Tkacik,
Sydney Colligan; Head Coach Kelly Unverdorben and Assistant Coach Bob
Colligan, Jr.; Managers Kayla Wright and Kaleb Shaw, on their incredible
State title win; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to each team member; Head Coach Kelly Unverdorben and
Assistant Coach Bob Colligan; Managers Kayla Wright and Kaleb Shaw.
