COMMENDING Minisink Valley Varsity Volleyball
Coach Ellen Lain upon the occasion of earning her
300th volleyball victory on October 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, to commend notable educators and
athletic coaches who serve the youth of this great Empire State and who
have distinguished themselves and their schools through outstanding
commitment and exemplary athletic achievement; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Minisink
Valley Varsity Volleyball Coach Ellen Lain upon the occasion of earning
her 300th volleyball victory when her team defeated Goshen High School
3-1 on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Minisink Valley gymnasium; and

WHEREAS, A 1984 graduate of Minisink Valley High School, Ellen Lain
returned to her alma mater in 1996 when she was offered a job teaching
algebra; ever since, she has been the varsity volleyball coach; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her 22-year career as coach, Ellen Lain has
amassed a record of 300-94; she won the Section 9 title five times and
was a runner-up in the Class B New York State Championship in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Although Ellen Lain's immense knowledge about volleyball is
well-known, it is her compassion and honesty which make her a great
coach; and

WHEREAS, Ellen Lain is a friend to everyone and has always stayed
true to her beliefs, making the students her number one priority; she is
always available to help her athletes achieve their goals and dreams;
and

WHEREAS, Ellen Lain's positive demeanor, selfless commitment, and
caring concern have contributed to her enduring success as a coach and
mentor, earning her the just respect and admiration of her community,
her peers, and the athletes she has so ably coached; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Minisink Valley High School Volleyball Coach Ellen Lain upon the
occasion of earning her 300th volleyball victory on October 4, 2017; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Coach Ellen Lain.
