HONORING Perry Meltzer upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Legion of Honor
Award for 40 years of distinguished service to the
Kiwanis Club of Monticello

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to call attention
to the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of
New York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the
community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Perry Meltzer upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Legion of Honor Award for 40 years of distinguished service to the
Kiwanis Club of Monticello observed with a celebration at the Blue
Horizon Restaurant and Diner, in Monticello, New York; and

WHEREAS, The esteemed Legion of Honor Award is bestowed upon
individuals who have served in Kiwanis for 25 years or more; these
extraordinary volunteers truly deserve recognition and respect for
helping to make Kiwanis the great organization it is today; and

WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and
serving can be sustained and strengthened; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Perry Meltzer has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Perry Meltzer has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; Perry Meltzer is
one such individual; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Perry Meltzer upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Legion of Honor Award for 40 years of distinguished service to the
Kiwanis Club of Monticello; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Perry Meltzer.
