COMMENDING Brian E. Towers upon the occasion of
his retirement after 22 years of distinguished
service as Supervisor of the Town of Wells

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment, dedication and
leadership command the respect and admiration of their community for
their exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Brian E. Towers upon the occasion of his retirement after 22
years of distinguished service as Supervisor of the Town of Wells; and

WHEREAS, Brian E. Towers has been the Supervisor of the Town of
Wells since 1995, and has taken personal responsibility for the
Sacandaga River dam and Hydroelectric plant, the only one in Hamilton
County and one of the very few "town operated" such facilities in the
Adirondack Park; and

WHEREAS, Since the formation of the Town of Wells in 1805, Brian E.
Towers has been the longest serving Town Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, Brian E. Towers has also served as Deputy County Supervisor
for many years, as well as active membership on numerous other committee
assignments, including the County Industrial Development Agency; and

WHEREAS, Most recently, Brian E. Towers has lent his expertise and
skills to the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages as President,
resulting in a monumental effort over the past several months in the
successful passage of Proposition 3 on the 2017 New York State Election
Ballot, which provided much needed infrastructure support to public
works projects in the Adirondacks and the Catskill Park; and

WHEREAS, Consistent with his commitment to public service, Brian E.
Towers attended 264 Town Board meetings with perfect attendance, never
missing one during his entire tenure; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the occurrence of such a compassionate
blending of strength, leadership, intellect, and commitment as that
demonstrated by Brian E. Towers over a lifetime of sacrifice and
dedication to others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Brian E. Towers upon the occasion of his retirement after 22
years of distinguished service as Supervisor of the Town of Wells; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Brian E. Towers.
