COMMENDING Michele L. Babcock upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2017
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Michele L. Babcock has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Michele L.
Babcock upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and

WHEREAS, Michele L. Babcock is the Managing Partner of Jacobowitz &
Gubits, LLP, a full-service law firm with a staff of over 40 serving the
Hudson Valley; and

WHEREAS, Joining the firm in 2003, and advancing to Partner eight
years later, Michele L. Babcock has represented local governments,
municipal officials and private applicants in zoning, land use and
environmental permitting and litigation; and

WHEREAS, Michele L. Babcock received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science and a concentration in Law and Justice from the State
University of New York at Cortland in 2000; she went on to earn a Juris
Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Admitted to the New York State Bar in March of 2004,
Michele L. Babcock is a member of the New York State Bar Association
and the Women's Bar of Orange and Sullivan Counties; she is also a
graduate of Leadership Orange Class of 2011 and the Pattern for Progress
Fellows Program; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed woman is currently participating
in the Leadership Sullivan Class of 2018, and serving as Class Vice
President; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to her
community, Michele L. Babcock serves on the Board of Trustees for the
Hudson Highlands Nature Museum; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and their three
children, who have all shown her love and support and rejoice in her
many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Michele L. Babcock has
displayed throughout her life; and


WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Michele L. Babcock, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Michele L. Babcock upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michele L. Babcock.
