HONORING Dena M. Carrigan upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2017 Community
Spirit Service Award by the Watkins Glen Chamber of
Commerce on January 20, 2018

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dena M. Carrigan upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2017 Community Spirit Service Award by the Watkins Glen Chamber of
Commerce to be celebrated at its Winter Gala on Saturday, January 20,
2018, at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce serves over 450
members and continues to grow; its members include sole proprietors,
small businesses, home businesses, corporations, and non-profit
organizations; and

WHEREAS, The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce diligently works
to advance economic vitality by providing promotion, education, and
support for its members and community; the Chamber strives to be the
leading organization that meets the needs and exceeds the expectations
of its business community; and

WHEREAS, Dena M. Carrigan, of Chemung Canal Trust Company, truly
lives by the Chamber's mantra; she is receiving this auspicious award
for her demonstrated leadership and excellence in philanthropy; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the past year, Dena M. Carrigan has
enthusiastically encouraged various civic initiatives, facilitated many
acts of human kindness, and positively impacted her community; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dena M. Carrigan has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dena M. Carrigan upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2017 Community Spirit Service Award by the Watkins Glen Chamber
of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dena M. Carrigan.
