MOURNING the death of The Honorable William P.
Tully, Jr., Justice of the Town of Windsor, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to mourn publicly
the death of prominent citizens of the State of New York whose lifework
and civic endeavor served to enhance the reputation of the State; and
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of The Honorable William P. Tully, Jr., Justice
of the Town of Windsor, New York, noting the significance of the loss of
a man whose altruistic spirit will be greatly missed; and
WHEREAS, Judge William P. Tully, Jr. died on Monday, October 23,
2017, in Windsor, at the age of 63; and
WHEREAS, Judge William P. Tully, Jr. proudly served his country as a
member of the United States Air Force; after his discharge, he embarked
on a career as a New York State Trooper, a position which served as a
great source of pride and joy in his life; and
WHEREAS, After his much deserved retirement from Troop C in 2004,
Judge William P. Tully enjoyed traveling and playing cards with his
poker buddies; he was known as a skilled woodworker who loved animals,
especially his own pets; and
WHEREAS, Judge William P. Tully genuinely liked to make people laugh
and will always be remembered for his quick sense of humor and for
bringing joy to all those with whom he came in contact; and
WHEREAS, A vital part of his community, William P. Tully served as
Justice of the Town of Windsor, a position he held until his death; and
WHEREAS, Judge William P. Tully, Jr. set an example for all
individuals by exemplifying what it means to give of oneself; he was a
beautiful light in the lives of all those with whom he came in contact;
and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his father, William; his wife, Michele; and
his grandson, Elijah, Judge William P. Tully, Jr. is survived by his
three daughters, Tonia Kerry, Tasha (Kristopher) Tully, and Tiala
(Jimmy) Wilson; one son, Thomas (Andrea) Tully; eight grandchildren,
Tylon, Kylah, Kaleb, Patrick, Erin, Elliot, Eva, and Cosmo; his mother,
Dorothy; three brothers, Larry (Jan), Thomas (Debbie), and Bobby
(Donna); one sister, Marian (Bob); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends, including Dianne and Nate Hall; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Judge William P. Tully, Jr.'s life was a portrait of
service, a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all he served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of The Honorable William P. Tully, Jr., Justice of the
Town of Windsor, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of The Honorable William P. Tully, Jr.
