Senate Resolution No. 3482

COMMENDING Dr. Theresa Hamlin upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2017
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Theresa Hamlin has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dr.
Theresa Hamlin upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and

WHEREAS, As Associate Executive Director of The Center for
Discovery, Dr. Theresa Hamlin oversees all clinical, medical,
educational and research programs; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Dr. Theresa Hamlin was instrumental in
the development of the Lab-School initiative which is designed with
advanced technology to study the effects of the environment on children
with autism and other complex disorders; and

WHEREAS, Theresa Hamlin received a Certificate of Advance Study in
Educational Administration and Supervision at SUNY New Paltz and a
Master's degree in Severe and Complex Disabilities from Columbia
University; she went on to earn a Doctorate of Education in Educational
Leadership from St. John's University; and

WHEREAS, In addition, this esteemed woman is certified as both a
Teacher of the Visually Impaired and Nutritional Coach; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to her community, Dr. Theresa Hamlin currently
serves on the Board of Trustees at SUNY Sullivan; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Kelly, and their
two children, Keely and Kelly, who have all shown her love and support
and rejoice in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. Theresa Hamlin has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Theresa Hamlin, that future generations may know and appreciate her

admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dr. Theresa Hamlin upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Theresa Hamlin.
