COMMENDING Colleen Monaghan upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2017
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Colleen Monaghan has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Colleen
Monaghan upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and

WHEREAS, As Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension
Sullivan County, Colleen Monaghan is responsible for strategic
leadership and management in administering Association operations
including grants and contract management, human resources, strategic
planning and board development, in five core program areas: Agriculture
and Food Systems, Environment and Natural Resources, Community and
Economic Vitality, Nutrition and Healthy Families, and Youth and Family
Development; and

WHEREAS, With 13 years of experience in nonprofit and government
administration, Colleen Monaghan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Applied Anthropology from SUNY Oneonta, as well as a Master of Public
Administration degree from Marist College School of Management; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her son, Kiran, who has shown
her love and support and rejoices in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Colleen Monaghan has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Colleen Monaghan, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Colleen Monaghan upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Colleen Monaghan.
