Senate Resolution No. 3489

COMMENDING Susan Southerton upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2017
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Susan Southerton has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Susan
Southerton upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and
Women in Business; and

WHEREAS, Susan Southerton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in
Nursing at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York, in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Currently, Susan Southerton is the Director of Nursing at
the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, a position she has held for just
over 20 years; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, two stepsons,
and five step-grandchildren, who have all shown her love and support and
rejoice in her many achievements; and

WHEREAS, When she is not working, Susan Southerton enjoys spending
time with her four- legged family which is comprised of her dog, cat,
turtle, six rabbits, four goats, and a donkey; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Susan Southerton has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Susan Southerton upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2017 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Susan Southerton.
