HONORING Ellyson Grant upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Ellyson Grant upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter
of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 20th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala, "Celebrating A Twenty Year Legacy
of Mentoring Excellence" on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, An exceptional student-athlete at Newburgh Free Academy
(NFA), Ellyson Grant maintains a 93.9 GPA, and is a runner on both the
indoor and outdoor track teams; he has been the recipient of the
Newburgh Board of Education Athletic Scholar Award two times, and is a
member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor
Society, and the National Foreign Language Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, After graduation, Ellyson Grant plans to continue his
education studying biotechnology and molecular science at the Rochester
Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, When he is not in school, Ellyson Grant can often be found
volunteering his time and energy to various worthy organizations
including a soup kitchen, a food bank, and a local nursing home; he also
studies martial arts and currently, holds a Purple Belt; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his high school career, Ellyson Grant has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Ellyson Grant, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellyson Grant upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ellyson Grant.
