HONORING Whitney Sarkodie upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Scholarship
Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Whitney Sarkodie upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, This momentous occasion will be celebrated at the 20th
Annual Tuition Assistance Awards Gala, "Celebrating A Twenty Year Legacy
of Mentoring Excellence" on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's
Pier 9, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born to Ghanaian immigrants, Whitney Sarkodie is an
exceptional student at Newburgh Free Academy, where she holds the title
of President of the Student Executive Council and Vice President of the
Debate Team; she is also a member of the Mercy College Leadership
Academy; and

WHEREAS, When she is not at school, Whitney Sarkodie works at a
local Burger King, where she serves as a Team Leader; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Whitney Sarkodie hopes to study political
science at college with the aim of becoming a politician; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Whitney Sarkodie has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and

WHEREAS, Whitney Sarkodie, in achieving this academic honor, may
take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of
excellence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Whitney Sarkodie upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2018 Scholarship Award by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris
Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and to extend best wishes for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Whitney Sarkodie.
