HONORING MaryEllen Odell upon the occasion of
being selected as Grand Marshal of the Northern
Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick's Day Parade

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
its esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their
community; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell, Putnam County Executive, will be honored
as Grand Marshal of the Northern Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick's Day
Parade during a dinner to be held at the Centennial Golf Club on
February 2, 2018; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell was appointed to fill a vacancy on the
Putnam County Legislature, serving District 5, in 2006, after already
having a long history of serving her local community through the Carmel
Sports Association, the Hamlet of Carmel Civic Association, the Carmel
Industrial Development Agency, Putnam Economic Development Council, and
other organizations; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell has served as Putnam County Executive since
November 11, 2011; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell has worked tirelessly on behalf of veterans
throughout her distinguished career; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell is also dedicated to fighting the ongoing
drug epidemic; she is instrumental in the successful Putnam County
Treatment Court and the One Army on the War on Addiction partnership
between Putnam County and other elected officials, not-for-profit
organizations, and law enforcement agencies; and

WHEREAS, MaryEllen Odell is a wonderful role model and a tremendous
asset to her community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor MaryEllen Odell upon the occasion of being selected as Grand
Marshal of the Northern Westchester-Putnam St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to MaryEllen Odell.
