COMMENDING Gary Schmidt upon the occasion of his
induction into the Monticello High School Hall of
Distinction Class of 2017

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Gary Schmidt upon the occasion of his induction into the
Monticello High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2017; this momentous
occasion was celebrated on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Arnold
Packer Hughs Auditorium in Monticello High School; and

WHEREAS, A member of the Monticello High School Class of 1966, Gary
Schmidt is a vital and important part of his community; and

WHEREAS, Gary Schmidt holds the title of Chairman of Schmidt's
Wholesale Inc., a plumbing, heating, electrical, waterworks and HVAC
supply house in Monticello, New York, with branch locations in Newburgh,
New York, and Florida; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to the wholesale industry and business community,
Gary Schmidt has served on the Board of Directors and President of both
New York State Plumbing and Heating Wholesalers and Wit & Company; he
was also a member of the American Supply Association Board of Directors,
and founding member of the Sullivan County A. Rhulen Award for Service
to Business, Community and Humanity Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, A true leader and visionary, Gary Schmidt and a group of
local business people established Community Bank of Sullivan County in
1990; today, it is known as Catskill Hudson Bank; and

WHEREAS, For many years, Gary Schmidt has been actively involved in
the Boy Scouts of America; he is an Eagle Scout and a Vigil Honor Member
of the Order of the Arrow; he was also the recipient of the God and
Country Award; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Gary Schmidt has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Gary Schmidt has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Gary Schmidt upon the occasion of his induction into the
Monticello High School Hall of Distinction Class of 2017; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Gary Schmidt.
