CONGRATULATING Alex Prims and Kyle Huttenmaier
upon the occasion of winning the Niagara Frontier
Automobile Dealers Association's 2018 Ron Smith
Memorial Auto Tech Competition

WHEREAS, Educational competitions which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the areas of Science and
Technology are worthy of praise and support; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Alex Prims and Kyle Huttenmaier upon the occasion of
winning the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association's 2018 Ron
Smith Memorial Auto Tech Competition on Saturday, January 13, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1995, Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers
Association's Ron Smith Memorial Auto Tech Competition is organized by
the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association (NFADA), and hosted
by the Erie Community College Vehicle Technology Training Center in
Orchard Park; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, the competition is supported by local
dealerships, educational institutions and businesses, and is open to
11th and 12th-grade automotive students from across Western New York;
and

WHEREAS, Alex Prims, a senior at Tonawanda High School, and Kyle
Huttenmaier, a senior at Grand Island High School, claimed the top spot
in the competition, earning a three-day, all-expense paid trip to New
York City to compete in the National Automotive Technology Competition;
and

WHEREAS, In addition, these remarkable young men received toolboxes
full of tools and equipment, as well as $1,000 scholarships to be used
toward furthering their automotive education; and

WHEREAS, Alex Prims and Kyle Huttenmaier, representing the Erie 1
BOCES Kenton Career and Technical Center's senior team, worked to
uncover hidden automotive bugs planted on test vehicles; the team went
through a series of diagnostic, workstation and performance tests to
measure their automotive technical skills and abilities; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these students now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their teachers, coaches and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Alex Prims and Kyle Huttenmaier upon the occasion of
winning the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association's 2018 Ron
Smith Memorial Auto Tech Competition; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alex Prims and Kyle Huttenmaier.
