HONORING Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee
County upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2017 Agricultural Organization of
the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of
Commerce
WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon
which our distinct American heritage is built; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of
organizations and individuals that generously contribute to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2017 Agricultural Organization of the
Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated at
its 46th Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the
Quality Inn & Suites in Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Genesee County is
receiving this auspicious award for its continued growth and commitment
to the County; and
WHEREAS, The CCE educational system enables people to improve their
lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and
research based knowledge to work; since 1917, this vital organization
has provided quality educational programming and resources to the
residents of Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, These educational efforts target agricultural production,
policy, and economic development; adult and youth leadership
development; nutrition, health, and human development; and public policy
education; and
WHEREAS, The Extension's professional educators collaborate and
cooperate with a variety of community groups and organizations to
provide effective educational activities and programs addressing current
community issues; and
WHEREAS, In 2017, CCE of Genesee County had its largest Leadership
Genesee class ever, and more than 60 Master Gardeners were available to
answer resident questions; the Extension also supported its growing
youth program, Cloverbuds, 4-H and its tenured volunteers; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, CCE will deliver 23 Cornell University specialists
to conduct research with the Dairy, Livestock and Field Crop, and
Vegetable Teams and Harvest New York; the college will also increase
both staff and programs; and
WHEREAS, The success of CCE of Genesee County is in direct
correlation to the efforts of Executive Director Beverly Mancuso and her
staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County upon the occasion
of its designation as recipient of the 2017 Agricultural Organization of
the Year Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Beverly Mancuso, Executive Director, Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Genesee County.
