COMMENDING Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella upon the
occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the Major General Irene
Trowell-Harris Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. on
February 3,2018
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella have given not only of their
time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Chris, Gavin
and Jamie Farella upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter, Tuskegee
Airmen, Inc. to be celebrated at its Tuition Assistance Dinner Dance on
Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Anthony's Pier 9, New Windsor, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Brothers Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella own and operate
Brothers Barbecue in New Windsor, New York; not only do they bring that
flavor to the smoker, they are also dedicated to bettering their
community; and
WHEREAS, Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella help their neighbors in
numerous ways from aiding local families who face tragic situations, to
offering jobs and guidance to those who seek a second chance in life, to
raising money to help sponsor programs at both the Newburgh Free Academy
and Cornwall High school and donating turkeys throughout the
Thanksgiving season; and
WHEREAS, These truly compassionate men also strive to provide other
opportunities within their communities by serving food at three local
soup kitchens in Newburgh, and participating in a state program that
works to give mentally disabled people workforce experience and
opportunities in various fields; and
WHEREAS, The brothers' small acts of kindness lead to addressing a
larger purpose; helping one person will not change the world, but for
that person the world will change; thankful for what they have been able
to achieve and the dreams they have made a reality, they stress the
importance of having compassion for others and always remembering that
everyone needs a little help sometimes; and
WHEREAS, Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella learned these valuable
lessons by their loving parents, grandmother and aunt; at a young age,
the brothers helped their mother serve lunches and raise money at St.
Josephs and St. Thomas schools, volunteered their theatrical talents as
a family at local nursing homes, and planted trees and cleaned the
streets of Newburgh; and
WHEREAS, As children, Chris, Gavil and Jamie Farella adopted a local
family during the holidays, each of them taking responsibility for a
family member and seeing that each member received Christmas presents;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Chris, Gavin and Jamie
Farella have displayed throughout their life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the Major General Irene
Trowell-Harris Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Chris, Gavin and Jamie Farella, Owners, Brothers
Barbecue.
