HONORING Theodore General upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the International
Brotherhood Tea Award by the Parent-Teacher
Association of P.S./I.S. 104 on February 14, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Theodore General upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the International Brotherhood Tea Award by the Parent-Teacher
Association of P.S./I.S. 104 to be celebrated at its International
Brotherhood Tea on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the School
Auditorium in Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Theodore General, affectionately known to his friends and
family as Ted, is receiving this auspicious award for his continuing
dedication to his community; and

WHEREAS, Ted General truly loves his neighbors, young and old; he
has played a valuable role in the success of his community in various
capacities including Community Service Director for the Bay Ridge AARP,
Vice President of the Society of Old Brooklynites, a Trustee for the Bay
Ridge Historical Society, Communications Director for the Brooklyn
Consumer Federation, Director of the Bay Ridge Community Council, and
Chairman of the Bay Ridge Sesquicentennial Committee, as well as a
longtime member of the 68th Precinct Community Council; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Ted General holds the title of Public
Relations Director for the United Military Veterans of Kings County and
is a member of the Fort Hamilton Army Base Citizens Action Committee;
and

WHEREAS, Ted General has also found time to volunteer his time and
energy to the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn, the Bay Ridge Council on
Aging, and the New York City Managerial Employees Association; he is a
4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was inducted into the
Alumni Hall of Fame at Fort Hamilton High School; and

WHEREAS, A man of many passions and interests, Ted General loves to
help provide opportunities for his fellow citizens to gather together
and celebrate their community; he is the Public Relations Director for
both the annual Children's Ragamuffin Parade and the Brooklyn Memorial
Parade; this remarkable man proudly served as the Grand Marshal for
Brooklyn's American Independence Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, Ted General also serves as a columnist and photo journalist
for Brooklyn's Home Reporter and Sunset News, and the Brooklyn
Spectator; and


WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, Ted General was the recipient of the Civic Award by the Bay
Ridge Community Council, the Admiral James "Jocko" Clark, USN Patriot
Award, and a top civil service award from the Hundred Year Association
of the City of New York; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Janet Olson; and
their four children, Patricia, Teresa, Kathryn and Teddy; as well as
their five grandchildren, all of whom have shown him love and support
and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Theodore General upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the International Brotherhood Tea Award by the Parent-Teacher
Association of P.S./I.S. 104; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Theodore General.
