COMMENDING The Honorable Kathy Jimino upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition
by Unity House on February 9, 2018

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Jimino has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The
Honorable Kathy Jimino upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Unity House, to be celebrated at its Annual Gala on
Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1971, Unity House is a Rensselaer
County-based human service agency which provides a wide range of
services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in the community
who are hurting and struggling; they assist those living in poverty,
adults living with mental illness of HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic
violence, and children with developmental delays; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Jimino served as a Rensselaer County Executive for 16
years, during which time she was steadfastly dedicated to the prevention
of alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse in the community; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, throughout her illustrious tenure, Kathy
Jimino advocated for new businesses in the County and encouraged the
expansion of those who already call Rensselaer their home; and

WHEREAS, A passionate supporter of local residents and the smart
growth of the community, Kathy Jimino has fought to protect jobs, air,
water and the future of Rensselaer County; and

WHEREAS, After beginning her career in the County's information
technology department, the Catholic Central High School and Siena
College graduate worked her way up to commissioner of that department
before leaving to become budget director; she later served as one of
Troy's final city managers; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Kathy Jimino has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Kathy Jimino, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Honorable Kathy Jimino upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by Unity House on February 9, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Kathy Jimino.
