Senate Resolution No. 3753

COMMENDING W. Brian Barr, AFSC for his many years
of distinguished service to the Rotary Club of
Albany and his community on March 7, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize
that the quality and character of life in the communities across New
York State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of
those organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the
welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend W. Brian Barr, AFSC for his many years of distinguished service
to the Rotary Club of Albany and his community, to be celebrated at a
special event on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, in Klimek Hall, at American
Legion Post No. 1520, in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, W. Brian Barr has faithfully served
the Rotary Club of Albany, leading the Club in living up to its mission,
Service Above Self; and
WHEREAS, A former President of Rotary Club of Albany, W. Brian Barr
founded Youth Recognition Day 34 years ago to honor children in local
residential schools for their achievements; the students are selected by
their teachers and staff at six Albany residential schools: Community
Maternity Services, Equinox, La Salle School, Parsons Child & Family
Services, St. Anne Institute, and St. Catherine's Center for Children;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his valuable work with Rotary Club of
Albany, W. Brian Barr serves his community in numerous other capacities
such as Director of Clinical and Community Services at La Salle School,
President of Senior Hope Counseling, Inc. Board of Directors,
Instructor/Supervisor of Dale Carnegie & Associates, Associate
Commissioner for Office of Children & Family Services, an Affiliated
Brother of the Christian Schools, and a vital member of the Project
Alert Task Force; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man also serves on the Board of Directors
of Senior Hope Foundation, Inc., Albany County Community Services, and
the United Way Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
community, W. Brian Barr was the recipient of the prestigious Jefferson
Public Service Award in an effort to make his community a better place
to live and work; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, W. Brian Barr received Rotary's Paul Harris
Award for his unwavering support and substantial contributions to the
Rotary Club of Albany and his community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend W. Brian Barr, AFSC for his many years of distinguished service
to the Rotary Club of Albany and his community on March 7, 2018; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to W. Brian Barr, AFSC.
