HONORING Joan Stovroff upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Realtor of the Year
Award by the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joan Stovroff upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Realtor of the Year Award by the Buffalo Niagara Association of
Realtors; and

WHEREAS, Joan Stovroff of Stovroff & Taylor Real Estate is a
resident of Tonawanda, New York, and has been a Realtor for more than 55
years; and

WHEREAS, Joan Stovroff received the Realtor of the Year Award for
her outstanding business accomplishments, civic activity, association
participation, and Realtor spirit; and

WHEREAS, Recipients of this auspicious honor go beyond selling
houses to promoting and personifying the principles of good real estate
practice, community involvement and ethical conduct; Joan Stovroff is
one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Sixty years ago, Stovroff & Herman opened its doors, and,
in addition to selling homes, began to foster the careers of local
industry professionals; and

WHEREAS, By the 1980s, the firm, which was co-owned by Joan Stovroff
and her late husband, Morton, became the number one real estate firm in
the region; at that time, it was almost unheard of to have a woman at
the helm of a business, but Joan was never a slave to tradition,
barriers or misogyny; and

WHEREAS, Joan Strovroff has made many contributions to the real
estate industry and is described as working tirelessly for the Realtor
Association, serving on numerous committees; being fluent in
Professional Standards; and receiving her Realtor Emeritus Designation
in 2010; and

WHEREAS, This remarkable woman's business success and community
involvement resulted in numerous accolades including the 1992 Woman of
the Year, and the 2008 Business First Woman of the Year; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Joan Strovroff combined travel, a great
passion of hers, with business and Stovroff & Taylor Travel was
recognized with the Peak of Excellence Award, a distinction among

business leaders, innovators and passionate individuals within the
industry; and

WHEREAS, The success of Stovroff & Taylor Real Estate is in direct
correlation to the efforts of Joan Stovroff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records this tribute to
Joan Stovroff, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joan Stovroff upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Realtor of the Year Award by the Buffalo Niagara Association of
Realtors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joan Stovroff.
