MOURNING the death of Gwendolyn L. Hull,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Gwendolyn L. Hull of Buffalo, New York died on Wednesday,
January 24, 2018, at the age of 75; and
WHEREAS, Born in Coalwood, West Virginia, the sixth of nine
children, the former Gwendolyn Lanette Pratcher came to Buffalo with her
family in 1950; she attended Schools 32 and 87, and was a graduate of
Fosdick Masten Girls Vocational High School; and
WHEREAS, Gwendolyn L. Hull's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, As a young woman, Gwendolyn L. Hull was affiliated with the
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church; in the late 1970s, she joined Pilgrim
Baptist Church and was an active member of the Church Ushers Association
of Buffalo and Vicinity; and
WHEREAS, Gwendolyn L. Hull is survived by her husband of 50 years,
Gary; a son, Timothy; three sisters, Cornelia, Naomi and Mary; and a
brother, John; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Gwendolyn L. Hull leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Gwendolyn L. Hull, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Gwendolyn L. Hull.
