COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of the
Huntington Community First Aid Squad on March 3,
2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those organizations within the State of New York which
provide vital emergency medical rescue services; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Huntington Community First Aid
Squad, to be celebrated at its Annual Installation and Inspection Dinner
on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury,
New York; and

WHEREAS, The Huntington Community First Aid Squad was incorporated
in 1967, as a volunteer emergency services agency with on-duty, in-house
crews, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, which was an
exciting and new concept during this time; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Huntington Community
First Aid Squad provides quality Advanced Life Support Ambulances and
Emergency Medical Services to the residents of the Huntington Community
Ambulance District located within the Town of Huntington, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Huntington Community First Aid Squad has responded to
several major incidents over the years including the Walt Whitman Mall
Fire in 1984, the Long Island Rail Road and tractor collision in 1988,
Pine Barrens Wild Fires in 1995, and the September 11th attack at the
World Trade Center; and

WHEREAS, Today, the Huntington Community First Aid Squad has more
than 280 active members and responds to over 6,000 calls for help each
year; and

WHEREAS, The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, the
Huntington Community First Aid Squad was cited as a role model agency
for others to emulate by NEWSDAY; additionally, this vital organization
was nominated as EMS Agency of the Year for the State of New York, the
first from Suffolk County to be nominated for this prestigious award;
and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 50-year history, the Huntington
Community First Aid Squad has demonstrated continuous service to the
residents and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad is
in direct correlation to the efforts of its volunteers, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and

WHEREAS, All of the individuals involved with the Huntington
Community First Aid Squad, past and present, are deserving of the
highest commendation for their contributions to the noble missions of
this life-saving organization; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Huntington Community First Aid
Squad on March 3, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.
