HONORING Sherry and Steve Einhorn upon the
occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors,
and community service are an example and inspiration to their
colleagues, friends, family, and community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sherry and Steve Einhorn upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 22,
2018, at Temple Israel, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this prestigious awards ceremony recognizes
individuals for their contributions to the Center and the Jewish
community-at-large by acting as moral pillars and dispensers of wisdom
and advice, providing continued service and leadership, and acting
generously in the spirit of Tzedakah; and
WHEREAS, Widely known for their extraordinary dedication to Israel
and the local community, Sherry and Steve Einhorn's philanthropic and
leadership endeavors continue to inspire all of those who are lucky
enough to know them; and
WHEREAS, Sherry and Steve Einhorn met at Syracuse University where
Sherry graduated from its School of Education and Steve earned a degree
in architectural studies; and
WHEREAS, The couple relocated to Albany, New York, in 1967, during
which time Sherry taught in the Albany School System and Steve launched
his architectural career; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to their
community, Sherry and Steve Einhorn focus their volunteer and charitable
efforts in Judaism, education, and children's healthcare programs; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Einhorn gives tirelessly of herself, serving in such
capacities as: Congregation Beth Emeth, Trustee; Elsmere School,
President of PTA; Albany Academy, President of Mothers' Association;
Bethlehem Central School District, Co-Chairman of Bethlehem Children's
Theatre; St. Margaret's Hospital for Children, Trustee; Jewish Family
Services, Trustee; Historic Cherry Hill, Trustee and docent; St.
Catherine's Home for Children, volunteer; Double H Ranch, volunteer;
Fresh Air Fund; and United Way's Hands on Capitaland; and
WHEREAS, Steve Einhorn's distinguished community and professional
involvement includes: Congregation Beth Emeth (CBE), President Board of
Trustees; Designer of the Holocaust Memorial, CBE; Founder and Chairman,
CBE's Leadership Development Program; Co-Chair, CBE's North-Porch
Strategic Planning Initiative; University at Albany Foundation,
President Board of Directors; Syracuse University, Board of Trustees;
Syracuse University School of Architecture, Advisory Board; Syracuse
University, named outstanding Architecture School alumnus; named a
Fellow of the American Institute of Architects; appointed Commissioner
for the Preservation of the NYS Capitol; volunteer, Double H Ranch,
United Way, and Fresh Air Fund; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Sherry and Steve Einhorn have both been
designated as Israel Bonds Honorees; and
WHEREAS, Sherry and Steve Einhorn have been married for 52 years,
and are the proud parents of four sons, Lee (Victoria), Rick (Grace),
Marc (Cecy) and Brad (Mary), as well as the loving grandparents of nine
grandchildren, Amelia, Lillian, Eloise, Gaby, Michael, Nicky, Bruno, Sam
and Rosie; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by
individuals for the benefit of others which Sherry and Steve Einhorn
have displayed throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Sherry and Steve Einhorn, that future generations may know and
appreciate their admirable character, their many benevolent deeds, and
their respect and esteem in which they are held by their peers; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sherry and Steve Einhorn upon the occasion of their designation as
recipients of the Pillars of the Community Award by the Sidney Albert
Albany Jewish Community Center; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sherry and Steve Einhorn.
