HONORING Roger Hyman upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Eli Sassouni
Memorial Scholarship by SHAI

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Roger Hyman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Eli
Sassouni Memorial Scholarship by SHAI, to be celebrated at its Biennial
Gala on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Temple Israel of Great Neck, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Sephardic Heritage Alliance Inc. (SHAI) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to meeting the needs of the local Persian Jewish
community; and

WHEREAS, Roger Hyman, a student at Great Neck North High School, is
being recognized with this auspicious award in recognition of his
exceptional achievements within the Persian Jewish community; and

WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction, Roger Hyman has
distinguished himself as a young man of superlative ability,
establishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life
rarely achieved in youthful years; and

WHEREAS, Roger Hyman, in achieving this high honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence he
brings to his family, friends, community and school; and

WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Roger Hyman represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roger Hyman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Eli Sassouni Memorial Scholarship by SHAI; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roger Hyman.
