HONORING Melanie Ayala upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Opportunities
for a Better Tomorrow, on March 7, 2018, in
conjunction with the observance of Women's History
Month
WHEREAS, The State of New York is home to countless women who have
contributed to the advancement of our culture through both their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Melanie Ayala upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT), on March 7,
2018, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional woman is being recognized for overcoming
several obstacles and achieving her many goals; and
WHEREAS, Currently an Emergency Medical Technician with New York
State, Melanie Ayala started with OBT in 2015 enrolling in the Young
Adult Internship Program; she wanted to obtain work readiness skills and
on the job experience through a paid internship; and
WHEREAS, This vital a New York State program helped her obtain an
internship with a New York State Senator who helped her obtain her
Permanent Residency; and
WHEREAS, After graduating, she enrolled in OBT's Woodlawn Cemetery
Preservation Training Program where she underwent an intensive nine-week
internship learning how to care for historic stone monuments via
cutting, polishing, caulking, and renew -stonework; and
WHEREAS, Through the Woodlawn Program she earned her OSHA
certification; Melanie's lifelong dream was to become an EMT because she
wanted a rewarding career that helps people; she is proud to be the
first line on the field during an emergency doing work that saves lives;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of his Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Melanie Ayala upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, on March 7, 2018, in
conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Melanie Ayala.
